Obviously you can use pretty much any dragon as any dragon, but the particular type of Clan War dragon I'm aiming for will influence the colour scheme when I come to paint... and I would like to have all of the Clan War Dragons represented.

Ended up a bit darker than I had in mind when I started. Unfortunately, it's a rare occasion when you have a whole unit of these and can treat the first one as a test piece, so it was either settle for the darker version or start over... and he's urgently needed to slaughter Crab.
The base is 3" x 5" of unprinted circuit-board (excellent for bases, if you can get it). The "cloud" is just odd bits of cotton wool glued to the base with PVA. Not as cloud-like as I'd originally hoped, but definitely more appropriate than a big lump of green flock.

The completed figure (above) is a bit of a compromise as it was not practical to remove all of the unwanted detail from the original ornament (below). I'm not too keen on the pink clouds but removing them, which would have been difficult enough in itself, would also have meant having to scratch build large parts of the legs and feet. Eventually I may add a few puffs of cotton wool to help blend them in to the base a little better. The base is the Clan War standard 3" x 5" beast base.
However, this is more or less exactly what I imagine a Jade Dragon to look like, so overall it's not a bad result for £10 (especially when you would normally pay nearly three times that for a Dragon figure).
Unfortunately there is no AEG Thunder Dragon model, so a suitable proxy needs to be found from another range.
My idea is to use a converted a War Hydra from the Games Workshop Dark Elf range, using the Wings from the Vampire Counts Zombie Dragon. More details on the development of this model can be found HERE.
Unfortunately there is no AEG Void Dragon model, so a suitable proxy needs to be found from another range.
This is a Ghost Dragon from the Ral Parth "Dragon of the Month" range. To my mind this is as good a choice for a Void Dragon as I am likely to find. Current plans are to paint dark blue highlights over a black undercoat, as this ties in with the imagery found on the L5R game cards for the Void Dragon.
