Comments:

Army A is what Frederick beat us with in the Desperate Journeys tournament. Army B is what he sent me some time ago (August 1999) as a sample crane army. I presume one has evolved from the other. He writes on the subject of using army B:

"I use this army in this way. I put the house guard in the middle of my side of the table, the elite archers on the right and the regular on the left: those two units not too far from the house guard. The iron warriors are between the elite archers and the house guard. I use my two units of cavalry (Doji's fan and the illusory unit of 8 cavalrymen) on the side of my army for different purposes. The Doji's fan for deadly charges, and the illusory unit is to fake a side attack. So you must fire, fire and fire again to cause a maximum of death in the enemy units and the iron warriors kill the remaining. I use Toshimoko to kill the leader of the enemy units so it's very simple to destroy the the rest of the enemy warriors but you must be careful about the another time and kharmic strike tactical cards that your opponents usually use against a Crane army".
